The health ministry in Gaza, controlled by Hamas, reported on Monday that Israeli forces are intensifying their bombardment of Kamal Adwan Hospital, the last hospital still partially operational in northern Gaza. This area has been a focal point of heavy military activity for the past month. According to the ministry, the hospital in Beit Lahia is facing relentless attacks, with all parts of the facility being targeted.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced it has killed a prominent Hezbollah commander, Abu Ali Rida, who was accused of orchestrating rocket and anti-tank missile assaults against Israeli troops in southern Lebanon. The military described Rida as responsible for planning and carrying out these attacks and for overseeing Hezbollah operations in the Baraachit area. However, details about when he was killed were not provided.
Since the conflict reignited in late September, Israel has consistently targeted Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of several key militant leaders, including former chief Hassan Nasrallah.
Iranian authorities have reportedly detained Reza Valizadeh, an Iranian-American journalist and former employee of Radio Farda, for several months. The US State Department has confirmed his detention, which coincided with the 45th anniversary of the US Embassy takeover in Tehran. Valizadeh’s imprisonment comes amid rising tensions as Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has threatened retaliation against Israel and the United States.
Valizadeh, who had indicated he would return to Iran in August, was detained upon arrival and subsequently rearrested, ending up in Evin prison. He is now facing charges in Iran’s Revolutionary Court. The State Department condemned Iran’s pattern of unjustly imprisoning US citizens for political reasons. As protests commemorating the embassy takeover erupted across Iran, demonstrators chanted slogans like “Death to America” and “Death to Israel,” highlighting the ongoing hostility toward the West.
In a separate development, an Israeli court has eased a gag order related to leaks of classified information involving Eli Feldstein, a media adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Critics argue that these leaks were intended to provide Netanyahu with political cover during stalled cease-fire negotiations in Gaza.
Netanyahu, who denies any wrongdoing, has downplayed the situation, asserting that Feldstein did not have access to classified information. The leaks were said to have fueled a discredited article in the Jewish Chronicle, which claimed that Hamas was using hostages as bargaining chips, as well as a report in Germany’s Bild newspaper suggesting that Hamas was conducting psychological warfare against Israel.
