Rohit Bal, a renowned Indian fashion designer, died at the age of 63 after a protracted illness. The design Design Council of India (FDCI) announced the announcement on Instagram, applauding his achievements that have “redefined Indian fashion.”

As an industry pioneer, Bal helped make fashion design a respected and glamorous vocation in the 1990s. Many designers that followed him credit his influence with their success.
Although he had been ill and forced to take a long sabbatical, he made a poignant comeback to the spotlight only a few weeks before.
An article in The Indian Express remarked, “We will always need a Rohit Bal to exemplify classic elegance and its timeless appeal.” This was in reference to Bal’s appearance at the grand finale of India Fashion Week in October, where he looked frail but happy alongside his models.
Bal was celebrated for his profound knowledge of Indian textiles and his meticulous attention to detail. His unique designs caught the eye of Hollywood stars and supermodels alike, making him a key figure in merging India’s rich cultural heritage with modern style.
