As Chhath Puja celebrations begin, banks in certain states will be closed for up to four days, affecting banking operations. This closure will include regular weekend holidays and will run from Thursday, November 7, through Sunday, November 10. The states observing these closures are West Bengal, Jharkhand, Delhi, and Bihar.
According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, banks in these regions will be closed on November 7 and 8. On Thursday, November 7, bank branches in Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, and West Bengal will close early for Chhath Puja evening prayers. The next day, Friday, November 8, banks in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Meghalaya will remain closed for the morning prayers of Chhath Puja, as well as the Wangala Festival. Then, as usual, banks will also be closed on Saturday, November 9, and Sunday, November 10, for the weekend holidays.
However, in other parts of the country, such as Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Mumbai, and several other cities, banks will remain open on November 7 and 8 as there will be no Chhath Puja holiday in these areas.
