Stephanie White, the former head coach of the Connecticut Sun, has been named the new head coach for the Indiana Fever.
Stephanie White, Indiana native from West Lebanon, made her mark in basketball early on earning the titles of Miss Indiana Basketball and USA Today National Player of the Year in 1995 while playing at Seeger High School. She went to excel at Purdue University and was part of Indiana Fevers inaugural roster in 2000.
After her career in the WNBA, White served as assistant coach for the Fever from 2011 to 2015. Following Lin Dunn’s retirement, she promoted as the head coach for two season.
“I’m deeply proud and honored to come back in Indiana and lead the Fever at such a crucial time in the franchises journey and for women’s sports in general,” White shared. “This team has always been dedicated to winning and I’m excited to work hard every day to bring another WNBA championship to our amazing fans.”
White steps in to replace Christie Sides, who was let go on Sunday. The Sun announced on Monday that White was no longer their head coach after two seasons, allowing her to take the role in Indiana.
She will be working with a promising young team, following the Fever’s return to WNBA playoffs last season for the first time since 2016. Indiana is also home to the league’s last two Rookie of the Year winners, Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, with Clark finishing fourth in MVP voting last year.
An introductory press conference for White is set to take place at 3 p.m. on Monday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
